EUTHANASIA
As we are responsible for your pet during its life we also have a responsibility during critical illness and death. It may be particularly difficult if you have to make the heartrending decision to have your pet put to sleep. However, making this decision shows the enormous amount of love you have for your pet and the fact that you have put your pet's care and well-being before your own thoughts of loss. We pride ourselves on being caring and compassionate at this very emotional time, giving you the support you need.
Calne Veterinary Centre euthanasia protocol:
We always sedate pets before euthanasia, this means an injection into the hindleg muscle and then you sit quietly with your pet while it slips into a deep sleep this takes approximately 10 minutes. This stops fear, distress and makes a calm and peaceful experience. We will then give them their final injection.
You can then choose whether you want to bury your pet at home or have routine or individual cremation
We use a local, family run Pet Crematorium in Pucklechurch. They offer individual cremation and we would be happy to arrange this for you.
