Calne Veterinary Practice
ABOUT US

The rapidly expanding Calne Veterinary Centre, situated on the town’s new northern bypass, has been offering a caring but professional service for companion animals (70%) and horses (30%) in the surrounding area for the past 10 years. As a practice we feel that we can offer a quality one to one service for all our clients.

Our principle Veterinary Surgeon Drs Irene de Best, MRCVS qualified in the Netherlands and has now been working in the UK for 14 years. She has 40 years of experience in dressage, show jumping and eventing to European champion competition level, and she has also ridden as an amateur jockey.

Miss Jemma Sulsh our assistant Veterinary Surgeon joined the practice 7 months ago. Jemma qualified in July 2009 at Bristol University. She has a keen interest in small animal surgery and enjoys dealing with exotic clients, such as tortoises, rabbits, guinea pigs etc. She has three tree frogs as pets.

We have a fully equipped modern operating theatre with x-ray, ultrasound and endoscopy facilities, as well as on-site blood testing. This enables us to give a very high standard of care. The practice is open 5 days a week from 9.00am to 7.00pm, and Saturday mornings from 9 – 10.30am, with 24hour emergency cover.

Our equine department caters for horses, ponies and thoroughbreds throughout the south west of England. The services offered include Xray, Endoscopy, Ultrasound, Physiotherapy, dentistry and examination for purchase. We also carry out stud work: all routine tests, ovulation prediction, pregnancy diagnosis, foaling, mare and foal care.

We are a Royal Canin Premier Practice and specialise in dietary management. This means that we can offer pet health clinics for weight loss, life stage feeding, dental health and preventative treatments including worming and flea treatments. These clinics are held by our Pet Health Care Counsellor Sarah Slade.

There are puppy socialisation and adult training classes held by Pet Behaviourist Pauline Lock.
